Gantry robots are particularly suitable for pick & place applications in various areas. For example, in the laboratory, in manufacturing, for applications with adhesives or in vertical farming. They are compatible with various camera systems, grippers and accessories and can therefore also be used in bin-picking applications.

Typical application areas

You can control the robot either from your Windows 10 PC or from the optional handheld with touch screen. On the PC the robot can be programmed via a graphical user interface. With the handheld you can control the robot with a joystick and start programs via the touch screen. In addition, you can also connect a gamepad to your Windows PC for control as an alternative to the handheld. With this handheld, the robot runs autonomously without the computer after programming via the Windows PC.

In our latest customer test video, filmed in our new robotics laboratory in Providence, Rhode Island, we showcase the integration of the K-DUCER system from our partner, Kolver, with our gantry robot.

The K-DUCER is an intelligent transducerized assembly system, featuring the KDU controller and a range of handheld and fixtured electric screwdrivers (KDS) with precise torque control up to 620 lbf-in.

The mobile measuring robot from Civ Robotics marks and measures large construction sites such as solar parks using GPS. The result for the customer is a detailed report of the area with marked coordinates and ground level measurements. A two-axis gantry system is installed in the robot to achieve maximum precision.

The mobile robot is permanently exposed to external influences such as wetness, mud or sand. The installed parts from igus are resistant to water and dirt and do not require any external lubricants.

In this application example from RAU Automatisierung, the quality control of surfaces is demonstrated with the help of a scanner, an igus® line gantry and an Apiro® gear. The scanner moves with the gantry over the workpiece to inspect the surface for irregularities. In doing so, it has to perform a rotary movement several times, which is made possible by the Apiro® gear under the scanner.
