We are often asked whether the linear axes can also be used vertically, and yes they can. It is important to use a motor with brake, so that the robot is secured in case of power failure. Two typical applications for robots on vertically used linear axes are, for example, stacker cranes or vertical farming applications.

The Universal Robots UR3e jointed-arm robot has 6 degrees of freedom and can carry a maximum payload of 3 kilograms with its 11.2 kilogram dead weight. With a seventh axis, the robot's work envelope can be expanded by a factor of 4, and lifting distances of up to 3000 mm or more can be realized on request. The kinematics can be controlled with URCap, but can also be ordered without it.
